Vienna Sausages fall into the highest category of processed foods on the NOVA chart, which is linked to a higher risk of developing chronic illnesses. Despite this knowledge the original packaging sells an idea of freshness, masking the harmful ingredients listed on the back. In my redesign, I’ve dramatically redacted the ingredients to contradict this misleading portrayal. The single, desaturated Vienna sausage resting on a leaf of lettuce looks stale and appetizing, taking away any illusion of it being fresh.
